In 2009, Group 1 Realty, Inc. merged with Remax Absolute Realty. Now known as The Group 1 Team, Kathleen McCallum and partners have combined their expertise with Remax Absolute Reality. Some History

For over 30 years, Group 1 Realty, Inc., offered clients a wide range of realty services, from commercial and residential sales and development to leasing and property management. Founders Mark McCallum and Richard "Dick" Buffum already had a wealth of experience in real estate when they formed Group 1 Realty in 1980. Former fraternity brothers, the two men decided they wanted more control over their own destiny and that of their clients.

From the first, the company focused on clients’ needs. Mark and Dick intentionally limited the size of the firm so that all the members of the Group 1 team could devote their energies to clients instead of office operations.

Known for honesty and integrity in its dealings with clients, the company attracted a loyal following in Southern Maine and beyond. Clients have trusted Group 1 and felt comfortable with the friendly, down-to-earth sales staff. In some cases, Group 1 Realtors became “almost family” to clients who have referred the team to sons and daughters, uncles and aunts. Such loyalty serves as a tribute to the special care Group 1 has devoted to each and every client.

If you happen to be out at 6 AM, you might see Kathy McCallum biking along the ocean trail in Saco, the Southern Maine town she has called home for many years. Kathy lives in Saco with her husband Mark, their son Richard and Abby, their resident beagle of small stature and great character. Another son, Keith, is married and living with his wife Nicole and young daughter Isabella in Pittsburgh.

In 1994, Kathy earned her broker’s license. She has been selling real estate since 1985, working with both sellers and buyers. Many of Kathy's clients are referrals from previous clients who were impressed by her professional skills, personal approach and hard working dedication. Kathy takes pleasure in matching the right people with the right home.

Communication is essential when it comes to real estate. Kathy takes the time to listen to her clients and discover exactly what they are looking for in a home. She uses the latest technology to tap into resources and locate new listings as soon as they are posted. Kathy gets to know her clients well and values their trust. She enjoys the natural beauty of Southern Maine and shares this appreciation with her clients. Kathy is always aware that when she sells a home, she is also selling a community and a way of life.
